I'll take it seriously this time.
Not in that order though. Couldn't find a proper picture of the Gaye Bykers on Acid album so here's a picture of the band:

This isn't the CD in question but it was an equally worthless one that I took diving with me to use as a radar reflector attached to my surface marker buoy. Without that the helicopter might never have found me when I got separated from the boat in heavy seas.
OK that's rubbish but how could a CD change your life. I ask you?
... and here's a recommendation for anyone but especially for John who is lets face it, asking for help in the book department. It meks yer think dough it.
What are five books that changed your life?
Inspired by Ms. Genevieve.
The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy had an effect on my linguistic
style, no question. My brother and I used to read it out loud to each
other on caravan holidays and I can still paraphrase surprisingly large
chunks of it so it's buried in the workings of my psyche.
The complete works of Oscar Wilde is pretty thick and at the moment it's holding up my computer monitor so it's changed my life by helping me avoid neck strain.
And last but not least, Europe by train, "The Inter-railers Bible".
Without this book I might never had gained the confidence to go travelling around Europe on my own when I was 20 with very little money. Maybe that's an exaggeration but there weren't really any books like it at the time - they were all for people with more money, but it was certainly instrumental in my adventure. It actually had information on which streets were safe for sleeping rough and which stations had guards that would kick you every half hour if you fell asleep on the platform. Without that experience I might have been a quite different person.
Here is a picture of my copy;
Blimey that was like a normal blog post. How dull. But I'm very tired so I'll let myself off.
